1976 GIBSON ES-335

Wine Red

No matter how you play it...

It ROCKS!

The Gibson ES 335 is the legendary blues favorite that gave birth to Rock'n roll. Introduced in 1958, the ES-335TD ("Thin Double-cutaway") cemented Gibson's reputation for cutting-edge innovation combined with classic traditional design. The thin body was easier for players to hold, the inner block enhanced sustain and reduced feedback, and the new PAF humbucking pickups set a new standard for quiet operation, high output, and sweet, fat tone. Small wonder that the 335 became an instant classic, and has remained one of the worlds' most popular electric guitars to this day.

This Wine Red Gibson ES-335TD was BUILT IN KALAMAZOO MICHIGAN in 1976 while America was celebrating 200 Years of Freedom. This is an awesome vintage guitar! It has a solid Honduras mahogany neck; maple top back, and sides, solid rosewood fingerboard, 2 original 70s Gibson "Super Humbuckers" with ceramic magnets and original covers; original nickel Tuneamatic bridge; original trapeze tailpiece, original black bonnet knobs, original beveled b/w/b/w/b pickguard with nickel support bracket, original 3 way pickup selector switch and original factory coil tap switch. The rare burgundy wine finish shows the slab-cut figured maple body to great advantage, and contrasts elegantly with the jet-black pickguard and control knobs. The dark rosewood fretboard contrasts nicely with the pearl block inlays. The neck has a gentle "C" profile, and is remarkably sleek and fast. The original frets are the classic Gibson medium-jumbos, famously easy to play. The tuners were changed, but all else remains ORIGINAL. The body and neck are well balanced, and the instrument sits comfortably on the lap or the shoulder. The patent-stamp pickups produce a smooth, high output signal with lots of snap and sustain. In addition to the original 3 way pickup selector switch near the knobs, this guitar has a rare original coil tap selector switch factory installed on the treble cutaway horn. This guitar has been loved and played! It has a few dings, but so what? This guitar plays wonderfully, with an exceptionally fast neck and smooth sweet bluesy tone. This guitar has tone to die for...warm, full bodied, clean and versatile with the ability to go from clean warm tones through to smoking distortion. The solid maple block down the center of the body minimizes feedback, and the hollow body wings gives good sustain, tone and weight. The solid center section along with the streamlined thinner hollowed chambers between the top and bottom, adds fullness and harmony that provide a spectacular sound. The double-cutaway design allows for greater fret access, along with the fast, low action neck. This guitar comes complete with the original hard shell case and a whole lotta vintage vibe!
