1975 Fender STRATOCASTER

The 70s ROCKED and the sound of the 70s is ROCK SOLID!

The 70's or the CBS years at Fender, were landmark years for the music industry. It was a time of revolution in Rock n' Roll history and the Stratocaster the gun that backed it up! From its humble beginnings the Stratocaster, has become the most famous and popular electric guitar in the world. Players like Buddy Holly, John Lennon, Jimi Hendrix, Jerry Garcia, Buddy Guy, Robert Cray, Jeff Beck, Stevie Ray Vaughan and the list goes on... Many of the best guitarists of all time, forged their musical pathways utilizing the incredible tonal characteristics and playability of the Fender Stratocaster.

In 1970 Eric Clapton, after seeing Steve Winwood playing his Strat walks into a Nashville shop and buys six! He gave one to Steve Winwood, one to Pete Townshend and one to George Harrison. The one he kept for himself, he named Blackie. Blackie sold last year at auction for a staggering $959,500, becoming the most expensive guitar ever to have been sold at auction! These early 70s CBS Strats now becoming the next high dollar guitar on the collectors radar. It's the "Vintage Vibe" that's driving the market and this early 1975 model "Blackie"Stratocaster has a ton of vintage vibe along with some 70's funk and 70's soul!

During Leo Fender's five-year consultant contract with CBS/Fender, he developed a neck adjustment system in 1970 that corrected the pitch of the neck in the neck pocket with a micro adjustment in the neckplate. This device, along with the BULLET HEADSTOCK & 3-bolt neck plate, were installed on Stratocasters beginning in mid-1971. The three-bolt neck plate, bullet truss rod and classic "F" tuners all mark the times as well as the attitude of the Rock 'n Roll years. With the BIG 70s headstock comes a BIG helping of that 70's MOJO!

This '75 Stratocaster has great tone and a ton of MOJO! Hardtail Strats have a different sound, not quite as airy as a trem version that is blocked off. The hardtail sounds a little more aggressive and somewhat brighter. Think Robert Cray and Walter Trout! Both are well known for playing Hardtail Strats. Cray's got the single coil sting, but it's more than just the quack, its his attitude! Now, let's talk TROUT! With a reputation for rippin' licks alongside the greatest names in blues including John Lee Hooker, Big Mama Thornton and Canned Heat, Walter Trout kicks butt on a Hardtail Strat! Most players prefer a Hardtail Strat because they are a little easier to tune and keep in tune and most players don't use the tremolo anyway. This guitar is also much lighter than the trem version weighing 6 lbs 14.5 oz. This guitar has the high end fidelity to really scream, bite, soar and articulate. She plays like butter with incredible sustain, but not at the expense of clarity. The action is light and intonation is perfect. The Hardtail provides increased resonance, sustain and volume.... a meatier sound with more bass. This guitar is seasoned to perfection with tone to die for, resonate and sweet with great harmonics and overtones, powerful and punchy.
