2011 Gibson Custom Shop Historic 1965 Reissue Firebird VII

Conceived amid the chrome and tailfins of the Motor City, forged on the workbenches of Kalamazoo, proven on rock and blues stages around the globe, the Gibson Firebird was one of the most radical instruments the world had ever experienced when it hit the scene in 1963, and it’s still a guaranteed head-turner today. Its classic reverse-body styling strikes a pose that is truly unique, and tonally it’s a bird apart too! Its powerful yet bright mini-humbuckers and through-neck construction contribute to a sound that’s both cutting and sustainful.

Performance, playability, and styling are the hallmarks of the Gibson Firebird VII. When first introduced in 1965, the Firebird VII was celebrated for its natural feel, fast action, and wide range of tone. With its 9-ply mahogany and walnut neck-thru-body design, 6-in-a-line banjo-style machine heads and adjustable ABR bridge with Vibrola tailpiece, this Gibson guitar became the rage.

This guitar REALLY ROCKS, producing a deep grunge sound or a clean bluesy tone. The new Firebird VII is loaded with 3 Alnico-V Mini humbucker pickups for an unrivalled tonality. The tone is very punchy and will rip your head off when cracked through a Marshall and has just the right amount of twang played clean. The Firebird has been described as a "Stratocaster on steroids" - not a bad take, as the pickups are clean and edgy, brighter than most Gibson humbuckers, but still more powerful than most Fender pickups. The Firebird VII has tone that cuts through the mix with distinction, providing warm, woody and well balanced tone. The ebony fingerboard and Lyre Vibrola add to the Firebird VII's expressive range.
